2000 Mountain Road, N.W. Located on the east side of the Old Town, the Albuquerque museum of Art and History houses a collection that chronicles 400 years of the city's history. The permanent collection includes exhibits on Native American culture, the Spanish Conquest, the Wild West and the Cold War. Renowned New Mexican artists and photographers are also featured in the museum. The temporary galleries not only feature New Mexican folk heritage but also display travelling exhibits of national and international acclaim ranging from European masters to Japanese woodblock prints. Another attraction in the museum is the Sculpture Garden, filled with over 50 pieces. During the summer months visitors can experience live jazz or salsa under the stars. The museum's performance department, Lo Maduro de la Cultura sponsor various cultural events such as music, theatre and poetry all year round. As well as the permanent displays and special exhibition, the museum offers walking tours of the Old Town, children's art classes and lectures designed with educational fun as a priority.
